Let Qi in
Source : Creative Home (100 Issue)
Date : 11 Mar 2012
by Joey Yap

The previous issue has significantly emphasized the vitality of the Main Door of a property as the 'mouth of Qi', a passage through which the life force is harnessed, sustained and circulated throughout the entire property. I don't think I could articulate its importance enough - your Main Door should never be obstructed!

Let us first take a look at the external aspects of your property. Before all else, you should know that your Door should not be hidden at all. Ensure that it is not obscure nor blocked from obvious view by trees, or other structures such as walls or pillars. Any forms of obstructions hinder the sun from reaching your doorstep, thus creating Yin Sha. This can be very hazardous to the mental health of the occupants of the property with such features. You know what to do, get rid of them or get gone!

Open spaces, or Bright Hall, are important in Feng Shui because this is where Qi can be collected and dispersed. Your Bright Hall absorbs as much Qi as the capacity can allow, therefore the broader and more spacious your Bright Hall is, the better and higher chances for Qi to come through your Main Door, thus be circulated throughout your entire property. So, when it comes to choosing to use which of two entrances a certain property might have, proceed with the one that has the bigger open space just outside the entrance.

Your Main Door should also not be elevated too high up from the front porch. It is advisable that you have a flat landing leading to the Bright Hall for Qi to gather and activate through the entire section. On the other hand, be reminded that your Main Door should not be directly aligned with the main gate as well, only if it is in a clear straight line, but off-center is considered to be fine.

It's best to watch out for annual afflictions when you attempt to undertake any renovation works upon your Main Door. For instance, the Year of the Water Dragon, 2012 sees the Southeast sector of properties to be afflicted by negative Qi that possible accidents, misfortunes and calamities may be in order if this area of your property isn't kept quiet or inactive. Likewise, the North sector of your property this year is also affected by Sha Qi which brings about conflicts that can lead to constant arguments and disputes, as well as heated confrontations so not only is it bad to spend much time within this section of your house, any impending renovation works should be stalled throughout the year.

Ideally, renovating your Main Door should not be a daunting task. What needs to be cleared, clear it and everything that should be left as it is, keep it how it is. Renovating only an area of your property takes more consideration than revamping the entire property. So think through to be through with it.
