Bathroom Placement that prospers
Source : Creative Home (Aug 105 Issue)
Date : 1 Aug 2012
by Joey Yap

Probably the most common Misconceptions in Feng Shui are the one revolving toilets. Over the years, the toiler or bathroom has become the unfortunate poster child for bad Feng Shui due to its calamitous reputation for "Flushing" away your wealth and fortune.

Now, let's just take a brief moment to think about this. If this claim is based, people from all walks of life would resort to the traditional method of settling their business: digging holes and dumping it back to nature - all in the name of preserving wealth and avoiding the flushing business!

So, to clarify, toilets being the money siphon is, of course, very much untrue. Naturally, on their own, these amenities are not a threat to your Qi - or to your bank account. So, why are we raising a concern for bathroom in Feng Shui study? The answer is really not that complicated and it lies in the heart of Feng Shui itself: its location.

The placement of bathroom plays a hugely significant role in maintaining the Qi, so, it is not a question of avoiding the toilets, but more of a matter of avoiding the wrong placement of toilet in your property.

If your bathroom is irrevocably situated above your Main Door, you might need to do a double take. While there's nothing wrong with having a toilet above your Main Door, you need to make sure your toilet bowl or bathtub are not located directly above the Main Door. These features would cause an excess of Water Qi above the Main Door, resulting in Wetting the Head Water Sha. If these circumstances prevail in your house, don't fret, you can either move the Main Door inwards, outwards, relocate the toilet bowl or abandoning the usage of that toilet.

Now, what about toilets being placed inside your bedroom, the place where you spend most of your time in? This arrangement is perfectly fine as long as you keep an eye on the toilet door. Toom door that opens to the toilet door diverts the flow of Qi that enters your room immediately to the toilet, and cutting off the circulation. If you want to put a stop to this, you can divert the Qi to the interior of your room by positioning some furniture in between the two doors.

Toilet is often viewed as a bearer of Water Qi - thus, if placed above the Fire element of the kitchen; the two will clash and affect the overall Qi of the house. However, this will only materialize if the toilet bowl is placed directly anove the stove of the kitchen. Don't lose sleep on this as you can easily moce your stove to another direction to avoid this muddle of Qi.

Having said all that, it is important to note that knowledge and grasp in Feng Shui are as important as execution. Listening to old wives tales and rumors will only muddle up the situation negatively. Keep this in mind - a little logic goes a long way.
