Positive Buildings

While looking for a new apartment, it's important to refine your options by selecting the right building. Here are a few things to look into.

Through selecting the right building, one is able to receive positive Qi from the environment (assuming the environment is favourable). Although there are some challenges that come with applying Feng Shui to existing buildings such as those of condominiums or apartments, it is a challenge that bears positive results in the long run. Practising some basic Feng Shui can work to harness good Qi or energy to your future home. First and foremost it is important to identify which buildings do not produce positive Qi. Here are some building types you should avoid:

  • The imbalanced factor: Stable buildings are usually preferred and unstable buildings need to be avoided. If a building looks flimsy - you should pass on that option. In Feng Shui, buildings that are built on stilts are regarded as being unbalanced. There are exceptions to this rule such as when the Qi from the back is rushing down and Qi from the front is rushing in - in such cases, stilts are acceptable.
  • Wedge-shaped, flimsy, thin and narrow: These buildings usually tend to look flimsy and delicate so avoid choosing an apartment unit that is thin and narrow as the Qi will be stretched out and squeezed, which is not a desirable factor in Internal Feng Shui.
  • The lopsided and the lonely: Lopsided buildings should be avoided. In Feng Shui, these are regarded as buildings that are incomplete. Future home-owners should avoid selecting a building that is much taller or stands as a singular building on top of a hill. This is known as the Lonely Mountain - such building is exposed to Qi from all sides, making it vulnerable and unprotected from any Sha Qi.
  • Supressing the Qi: Don't pick the shortest building in a cluster of very tall buildings. A building like this has the problem of Supressed Qi and should be avoided. Look out for this problem particularly if you live in a country where apartments are typically built very close together. You do not want to be in a low-density building, amongst all the high density buildings.
  • The piercing Sha: Also, avoid selecting any building that is 'pierced' in any form. This means that it has a structure either attached to the side, back or front. Sometimes, a building can be pierced from the top, especially with the increasing number of telecommunications towers being built on top of tall buildings. Although this does not cause a problem for the entire building, it does mean that the units in that particular section are affected. Hence, it is vital to make sure that there is absolutely nothing on the roof that is piercing the building.

Now that you know how to eliminate the buildings with bad Feng Shui, it is time to look at some of the methods that you can use to narrow down your choices. There are two aspects towards narrowing down your choice of building; firstly, you will want to select the building that is receiving the most Qi or for that matter, the majority of the positive Qi. You will have already determined from the landforms, and from eliminating the choices affected by negative features, which buildings have reasonably good Feng Shui. It is now just down to finding the one that has better Feng Shui amongst the lot. Secondly, you will want to further refine your selection by personalizing the choice, either by using Personal Gua or your favourable or unfavourable Elements - based on your personal BaZi.
