The Bedroom is one of the three important factors in internal Feng Shui. When it comes to ceilings, you may wonder whether its high or low height would make any difference to the Qi of the room. Is there such a thing as an "auspicious height"?
First of all, forget about this business on "auspicious height" or "auspicious dimensions" as far as the living environment is concerned. There's no need to measure your home this way, so put your measuring tape down and step away.
In terms of architectural design, the normal height for an interior ceiling is usually 8 feet high. Another preferred ceiling height is 9 feet. Although there are some bedrooms with soaring ceilings that can rival the Notre Dame, it is rare to find rooms with ceilings lower than 8 feet. If such ceilings exist, no one would feel comfortable living in it. Would you?
From the Feng Shui stand point, it is really not about how high or low the ceiling should be. It's more about whether the ceiling is leveled or slanted.
A slanted ceiling causes the Qi in the room to be imbalanced. As a result, sleep is disrupted and uneasy for the occupant in that room. Children in such room tend to be rebellious or restless.
If you have a slanted bedroom ceiling, there are several possible solutions to fix it. First, you may want to consider straightening or leveling out the ceiling. If this is not possible, next option is to move the bed so that you sleep (where your head lies on the bed) at the higher end of the ceiling rather than the lower one.
There is also no need to fret over the kind of ceilings it is. A simple design with no excessive beams across it would be just fine. Most times, the ceiling is not a major concern for internal Feng Shui. So focus more on what matters most in Feng Shui: the location of the Main Door, Kitchen (stove) and Bedroom (bed).
