Hot on the heels of the Feng Shui class in Kuala Lumpur, the BaZi Mastery Series was held in Kuala Lumpur over the four days of May 1 - 4, 2009. This was a highly-anticipated event as it had been awhile since Joey last taught Modules 1 and 2 of the BaZi Mastery Series. Plenty of students, old and new, grabbed this rare opportunity to catch Joey teach the fundamentals of BaZi and as a result - the Grand Ballroom of Prince Hotel, the venue of the class, was packed to the brim!
This course was no ordinary one for many reasons, but chiefly because it was recorded live for the entirety of the four days, and most important of all - because of the course material. Approximately 60% or more of the course content was updated and revised, and the course book was also accordingly improved to reflect the new additions.
While sound principles and theories based on the classics are a fundamental and integral part of authentic BaZi studies, people flock to Joey's classes for one thing - and that's to get first-hand information and knowledge on the ways in which an experienced practitioner and consultant uses the information to derive analytical readings. After all, a BaZi chart is just a BaZi chart until the characters start talking to you - and it only does once you've pieced together the pieces of the puzzle in a meaningful fashion. And HOW to do this was exactly what the students were there to learn from Joey.
There was never a moment for students to fall into a stupor and forget what they've learned, as the classes were intermingled with practical group work that enabled students to practice what they learned as soon as they absorbed it. Interestingly enough, students were also made to write their Day Masters and Structures onto their name tags - to enable them to "know their own kind," as Joey put it!
Joey's lighthearted approach throughout - and a special early-morning treat of a You Tube video onscreen (featuring a classic case of a 'Hurting Officer structure gone mad!') made for many memorable moments. And in addition to supplementing the course material with practical work, Joey also gave his students a chance to come up on stage and "play" - play at being professional consultants, that is! This was highly-rewarding both for the students on stage and for those observing them, as their mistakes were corrected and their oversights brought to light so that the step-by-step procedure of chart reading and analysis was repeated in order for students to familiarise themselves with it.
By the end of the fourth day, students had gained first-hand expert knowledge in beginners BaZi and made new friends, to boot. They also received Certificates for both Modules for their attendance, and left with the skills to piece together the information in their own charts - and were exhorted by Joey to continue to practice, practice, and practice some more!
