Dato' Joey Yap was recently invited as a celebrity guest speaker for the event, "A Date with Surface". The event was part of a 5 series chit chat session with FLYFM DJs Ben & Zher held every week to discuss topics related to lifestyle and technology. Organized by Live & Inspire and jointly sponsored by Starbucks and Microsoft, "A Date with Surface" was held on the evening of 29 November 2013 at Starbucks, The Gardens Mall to promote the new Surface tablet by Microsoft.

Dato' Joey Yap's involvement in the event was part of the lifestyle segment of the event entitled "Feng Shui, Technology and You". Part of the event included a short interview by DJs Ben & Zher on the topic of Feng Shui. In it, he shared the nature of his business as well as what Feng Shui is all about. Interestingly, Dato' Joey Yap described Chinese Metaphysics by drawing parallels with the Surface tablet; the device being the topic of Chinese Metaphysics itself while the Feng Shui, BaZi and other elements being the apps. He also gave a short talk on Face Reading and whether it can be used on social networking sites such as Facebook by using DJ Zher as example.

The hosts later opened the floor to a short Q&A session. The full-house crowd, numbering over 65 people, responded enthusiastically with their questions which were answered by Dato' Joey Yap. The event, which lasted two hours, ended with a lucky draw giveaway which included a brand new Surface tablet, presented by the celebrity guest speaker.
