East West Living in Manhattan, New York, launched Joey Yap's newest international release, Pure Feng Shui, at their store on Friday, November 7. The store, which has a long history of being New York's largest source of books and resources on holistic living, metaphysics, and alternative health, is located on chic and upscale 5th Avenue. The store was a classy yet intimate venue for the launch of the book, a simple yet in-depth exploration into the rudiments of Classical Feng Shui, minus "New Age-y" traps and tricks of modern popular Feng Shui. Indeed, as the book title suggests, it is a return to the authentic principles of "pure" Feng Shui as it was studied and practiced traditionally, with these classical theories and methods now being made applicable to modern living.
The crowd was made up largely of Feng Shui practitioners, many of whom were keen to hear Joey speak of a more "back to basics" approach to Feng Shui that eliminates the need trinkets and gizmos. Joey spoke a little on the inspiration behind the book, and explained the reasons why it was important to adhere to the principles of Classical Feng Shui without sacrificing practical use and applicability in current times. Indeed, Joey demonstrated how good and authentic Feng Shui can also be simple Feng Shui, and easily applied to one's daily life.
After the launch, members of the audience who owned a copy of the book or who had decided to pick up a copy could get them signed by Joey. As many of the audience members were also Feng Shui practitioners and/or students, this was a good opportunity for them to exchange some words on all matters Feng Shui. While the launch drew to a close, the atmosphere was one of warm cordiality, as many lingered about to continue chatting with Joey and one another. And indeed, many were interested and impressed enough to purchase tickets to attend Joey's Thriving In Challenging Times seminar, to take place in Times Square the very next day!
