Joey's Feng Shui and Astrology for 2009 seminar, themed 'Thriving in Challenging Times,' took place in Kuala Lumpur on the Saturday of January 17th, 2009. Held at the Plenary Hall in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the seminar saw participants coming in from various corners of the country, and from abroad as well.
Participants started lining up eagerly to register their places long before the ticket lines were open, lending the venue an atmosphere of highly-charged excitement. Many took this opportunity to already browse around the product booths set up around the Hall venue, looking through the latest book releases and educational tools and Luo Pans released by Joey.

The venue was packed to capacity when Joey took to the stage at about 10 AM. He began the seminar with an overview of the 5 Elements Industry Outlook, highlighting the industries that are likely to do well in the year of the Earth Ox, and those that are likely to see some losses. This naturally segued into the outlook for the year from a BaZi (Chinese Astrology) perspective.
During the first break of the seminar, Joey had a short press conference that was attended by the media. He shared some of his thoughts on his inspirations and motivation for conducting his annual Feng Shui and Astrology seminars, and took questions from the members of the media present.

After the break, Joey spoke on the Feng Shui influences for the various sectors of the property (whether home or office), concentration on the North sector in particular. This is because the North sector is the most dangerous sector of 2009, as the #5 Yellow Star flies into the sector. This Star denotes calamities, trouble, and setbacks, so Joey explained the ways in which one can alleviate its effects if one had no choice but to use the North sector. Before the seminar broke for lunch, Joey took some questions from the participants during the short Q & A session.
The lunch break saw a throng of people around the product, courses, and consults booth. A lot of the people present were curious about the new books Joey had recently come out with and were seen discussing certain points of reference with the MA Consultants at hand.
Right after lunch, participants got right down to work as Joey took them through the rudiments of plotting their BaZi chart. Those who had managed to get theirs printed out at home, or at the booth especially set-up outside the Hall, were able to rest easy during this segment! Joey then took the participants through the 12 Animal Sign outlook for the year, highlighting the Annual Lucky and Unlucky Stars for each of the signs.
Joey's key point in the seminar, however, is the Face Reading segment. In this section, he typically combines Face Reading with Astrology to provide participants with the Face Fortune of the year. He explained how certain parts of the year are able to affect certain parts of your face, depending on your Astrology sign. Those parts of your face correspond to different aspects of your life, as observed in Face Reading. This was definitely a unique perspective, and many of the participants seemed particularly drawn to this section.
Joey also focused on the Feng Shui solutions and remedies (principles and techniques) that involved the Good and Bad Dates for the year. He highlighted the dates on which it's good for people to recommence work or business after Chinese New Year. He also highlighted certain Bad Dates to be avoided. There was also a focus on Good Dates to observe for certain specific situations, such as for people who have bought a new house and realise that the Main Door is in the North Sector (with the #5 Yellow present this year). In those scenarios, it's important to pay attention to the ideal dates to use.
Participants had a chance to contribute to the Q & A session again towards the end of Joey’s presentation, and have their questions and queries addressed.

After the seminar was over, participants had a chance to get their books signed by Joey. This saw, as usual, an overwhelming number of people keen to get Joey's personal autograph and to exchange a few words with him. Plenty of others also grabbed their last opportunity to browse the products and services booths, and speak with the MA staff and Consultants.
