Mian Xiang Module 1, May 4th
Known as the Chinese art of Face Reading, Mian Xiang’s long, respected lineage predates more than 4 millennia – perhaps right into the very founding of the Middle Kingdom, China, itself! And since CVs can be exaggerated and even BaZi charts faked, the face simply does not lie. It is therefore unsurprising that this art has been utilized by the emperors, nobility and commoners alike to size up both friend and foe.
In Mian Xiang, a person’s face is more than his or her expression to the world – it is also a virtual map that belies a person’s characteristics, attributes and perhaps more importantly, Destiny in life. In other words, to the trained eye, a persons’ face is but a virtual book…merely waiting to be read and deciphered.
With Joey as the Instructor designate for this class, the classroom was expectedly filled to capacity with enthusiastic faces – all eager to absorb what Joey had to share with them, and undoubtedly, learn how to size up on-the-spot the people they meet daily.
Using his trademark humor, Joey introduced his students to the fundamentals of Mian Xiang; his wit warming students to the subject at hand at a comfortable pace. He then proceeded to share with them crucial details on face shapes, and surreptitious eyes could be seen stealing glances at neighboring faces – with obvious purposes!
A discussion on conspicuous facial features such as the forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose and cheeks followed suit, during which Joey demonstrated to his students the qualities and traits they should be looking for in each feature. Perhaps one of the Mian Xiang Mastery Series’ greatest lures is the fact that participants are able to actually – and excusably - practice their newly acquired skills on their fellow participants.
In other words, faces will never look the same to these participants, ever again!
Mian Xiang Module 2, May 5th & 6th
Aptly themed `Practical Face Reading’, Module 2 intensified whatever knowledge students had already acquired in Module 1 to a highly advanced level. Taking the helm was none other than Joey Yap again – with more an overwhelming majority of his previous day Module 1 students returning for more…just like Charles Dickens’ fictional orphan, `Oliver’.
And more they had, as Joey did a quick revision of what his students had been taught in Module 1, before plunging into technical details such as Mountains, Rivers, Mansions and Halls. Since Mian Xiang falls under the Chinese Metaphysical art of `Physiognomy’, these details are required to enable correct analyses to be done.
He then stepped into gear, with a detailed analysis of the 5 Officers, which he duly discoursed with participants. Virtually nothing was left to the imagination, as students were taken on an intriguing journey into this immensely powerful and accurate branch of knowledge.
Capping-off Module 2 was a fun-filled, hands-on approach to Mian Xiang, where practical Face Reading tips were shared with students. At this juncture, the diverse aspects of life such as personality traits, relationships, careers and health were duly discussed vis-à-vis Mian Xiang; from the practical point of view, of course!
The furious flurry of questions, warm round of applause and number of people who later approached Joey to shake his hand (some even brought Joey’s book to be autographed!) were more than ample testimony that everyone had a `helluva’ time – while benefiting greatly from the reservoir of knowledge Joey had shared with them throughout the Course.
